KidFest! Ridgeland was recently named a “Top Twenty Event” by the Southeast Tourism Society.
Don’t forget! Some of our headlining acts change from weekend to weekend! Be sure to check the schedule so that you don’t miss out on the chance to see them all!
Zoppé, an Italian Family Circus (April 18-19 & April 25-26) – Starring Nino the clown, the Zoppé circus is propelled by a central story that features acrobatic feats, equestrian showmanship, canine capers, clowning and plenty of audience participation. Giovanni Zoppé, the sixth-generation circus performer who plays Nino, says the show aims higher than most circuses these days. “We try to touch every emotion during the show,” he says. “They’ll laugh, they’ll cry and they’ll feel for our characters. It’s more of an event than a show.” Don’t miss America’s favorite family circus. www.zoppe.net (Appearing both weekends, please see schedule for performance times).
The Magical Poodles (April 18-19 & April 25-26) – this show will provide a fun, educational and entertaining experience highlighting the many talents and tricks of the Magical Poodles. Festival guests will learn how to “trick train” a dog, learn about safety around new dogs and how to care for a pet responsibly.
Backyard Circus (April 18-19 & April 25-26) – An old-fashioned backyard circus where as many as 30 children from the audience have the opportunity to dress up and be the circus performers. The show includes a lion tamer, strongman, butterfly ballerinas and Wanda, the tightrope walker. During the grand finale one lucky kid is shot out of a cannon, not a real cannon, but it is a great ending to the “World’s Greatest Backyard Circus.” (Appearing both weekends, please see schedule for performance times).
*NEW* Wolves of the World (April 18-19 only) – The most unique show on the road today, the show presents the mystical enigmatic wolf-a whole pack in fact, performing right before your eyes. The Sandlofer family explains about the history of wolves. They recount the story of how these rescued wolves are raised in captivity and display the traits of the wolf packs, including the alpha male and female and how they interact. The show even features a hero wolf, who saved a young girl from drowning, showing the wolves to be intelligent empathetic animals. Sharon Sandlofer has trained the fiercely independent animals to perform before audiences, a feat rarely accomplished in a touring show. Audience members sometimes drive for hours to see the wolves perform live. This is a show unlike any other. At the conclusion of the show, audience members are invited into the wolves’ habitat where they actually have the chance to watch the wolves being fed. This is a show you will never forget.
*NEW* Connor O’Carraig (April 18-19 only) – A giant leprechaun who uses rhyme, wit, and sleight of hand to manipulate the perception of time.
*NEW* Ready Go Dog Show (April 25-26 only) – Get ready to be amazed by dock-diving dogs and a world record canine jumper!
*NEW* Fritters (April 25-26 only) – Fritters was founded by veteran costume performer John Allgaier, who strives to bring about better performance through building better costume characters and better performers. Their costumes are designed to allow for maximum expression, mobility, and body animation.
